TP4336 1A Power Bank solution IC : A High Integration Solution accelerates product Implementation.

Making Power Banks Smarter : The Smart Evolution of TP4336 Single-Chip Solution

High Integration Coupled with Multi-level Safety Guard

Have you encountered any of the following scenarios?

1. Rushing to catch the morning subway, you find the power bank in your backpack overheating unexpectedly.

2. Bluetooth earphone case drains power for no reason while traveling on business.

3. Power cut on a stormy night : in need of a device for lighting and charging.

Such common issues often result from drawbacks in power bank solution chips. TPOWER Semiconductor’s TP4336 single-chip solution unlocks new potential for portable electronics.

A. The Art of simplify complexity Integration:

Seven core functions — charger, boost circuit, battery indicator and more — are integrated into an 8mm×6mm tiny chip. That’s the innovation of TP4336.

1.Integrated Intelligent Control : SystemSupports full three-stage lithium battery charging (trickle / CC / CV) with stable 1A current for rapid charging.

2.Minimal Circuit Design : Only 7 basic peripheral components are required, greatly reducing PCB area.

3.No external MOSFETs : Integrated power switches remove extra drive circuitry.

B. The Hidden Champion in Power Consumption Control :

Excessive standby current has long been a persistent problem for electronic equipment. TP4336 provides a reliable solution.

1.10uA ultra-low sleep current : Merely 1/50 of standard chips' standby power.

2.Intelligent load response : Instant wake-up upon cable insertion with sensitivity of 8uA; automatic sleep after 16 seconds once the load is removed.

3.Light-load shutdown : Automatically powers down when output current is less than 50mA, similar to an LED operating current.

Power Consumption Comparison

Traditional Solution : 500μA standby current (3000mAh battery exhausted in 3 months)

TP4336 Solution : 10μA standby current (Only 6% power loss under the same conditions)

C. In-depth Protection for Safety

Safety is the bottom line of power design, TP4336 features three layers of protection.

1. Over-temperature Protection : Automatically reduces current at 115°C, shuts down urgently at 150°C, and resumes operation at 130°C.

2. Over-voltage Protection : Input overvoltage protection (shuts off above 6.15V) ; Battery undervoltage protection (stops discharge below 2.8V)

3. Fault Emergency Mechanism : Fast response within 500us for short circuit protection ; Over current protection with 8ms delay.

D. Application Scenarios & User Experience

1. Pocket Power Station : 4 LEDs display power by 25% steps, the red LED flashes at 2Hz to alert low battery in a business-card-sized power bank.

2. Multi-functional emergency Partner : Long press for flashlight, while charging your phone at the same time (power-path management mode).

3. Smart Device Battery Manager : Auto wake-up when opened; only minimal power consumption after 60 days of standby at TWS Charging Case Application.

E. friendly Design

Complete design in three steps

1. LED Mode Selection : 25% Step Battery Indication at 4 LED mode, simplified design (LED3 pin shall be grounded)

2. Layout Optimization Tips :Place input and output capacitors close to the IC pins. Route power inductors and battery capacitors on the same layer with short traces. Ensure the thermal area under the IC is fully connected to ground.

3. Smart Key Logic :

a. Short press : Power on / Check battery level

b. Double press : Safe shutdown

c. Long press for 2 seconds : Flashlight on/off

F. Design Notes

A current-limiting resistor shall be connected in series for the flashlight function. The recommended saturation current of the boost inductor is 1.5μH. The threshold of battery undervoltage protection is adjustable
